Course No. 550 - Marketing with Seminars - Instructor: Robert J. Gurrola, CBI, M&MAI, CBOA ,CBC, SBA, CP (4 credit hours)
This course outlines the steps to follow to put on a marketing seminar to attract clients. When you complete this course, you should have the knowledge and materials to put on a seminar that attracts potential clients and results in business. As a result of this course, you should be able to organize and put on a seminar, attract quality clients and gain community recognition through marketing and advertising, keep seminar costs reasonable and gain alliances with sponsors. You will be provided with a CD-ROM with documents, forms, checklists and templates that you will need to put on a seminar. This course is recommended for both main street brokers and M&A intermediaries. It is recommended that participants have taken 101 or 301 and have a good understanding of the business brokerage process so they can confidently put on a marketing seminar. It is suggested that participants also take one of the companion courses, 551 (Main Street Seller Seminar), 552 (M&A Seller Seminar) and/or 553 (Putting on a Buyer Seminar), and 900 Train the Trainer. This course previously was the first part (4 hours) of Course #309.
Course No. 552 - M&A Seller Seminar: Instructor: by Robert J. Gurrola, CBI, M&MAI, CBOA, CBC, SBA, CP (4 credit hours)
In this course you will learn about the key topics and ideas that need to be communicated in a seminar to attract M&A business sellers. When you complete this course, you will have the beginnings of a customized PowerPoint presentation that you can use to put on a seminar that attracts potential M&A clients and results in a listing. You will be provided with a CD-ROM with a sample seminar presentation. It is recommended that participants have taken IBBA 101 or 301, and 550 and have a good understanding of the business brokerage process so they can confidently put on a marketing seminar. It is suggested that participants also have taken or will take a train the trainer or presentation skills course, such as IBBA 900. This course is recommended for M&A intermediaries.
Course No. 130 - Accounting Basics for Business Brokers: Instructor: Warren Burkholder, CBI CBA, ASA (8 credit hours)
This course is designed to provide brokers/intermediaries with an understanding of basic
accounting terms and fundamentals. This is a boot camp for those who have not had formal
accounting training. You will learn how to read financial statements and tax returns,
determine ratios and apply the information to a business sale. This course will provide a
sound basis for success in the more advanced 210 Recasting and 220 Introduction to
Valuation courses.
Class space is limited to the first 25 respondents. NEBBA Members will receive priority registration if prepaid registration is received by September 2. After this date, availability will be on a first-come/first serve basis. Non-members may (should) register and prepay prior to September 2 in order to increase chances of class availability and take advantage of early bird discount. Non-members will be confirmed based upon date of prepaid registration is received.
Training will be held the Radisson Hotel in Chelmsford, MA (Route 110 - between exits 33 and 34 off I-495).
